Benetint Bust

Oh, mixed review, how I hate to write you!!!  I had such HIGH hopes for this beauty product and I just don’t know if we’re made for each other…

Benetint has been a beauty industry favorite for years as a lip and cheek stain that looks great on just about everyone.  (Except me?)  I’ve been in love with the idea of a lip stain as I am a busy mom and the word “reapply” just doesn’t apply to me.  I’ve spent countless minutes trying stains at Sephora and other makeup stores, but they are always either too red or too pink, and I just don’t look good in either!  Benetint was supposed to be the ONE.  And it almost is… was.

I decided to purchase Benetint in the form of the handy PocketPal.  Half Benetint, half gloss.  I did this because I have dry skin, and therefore, dry lips.  And I love lip gloss.  The product has lots of warnings since it is, after all, a STAIN and you must apply with care and caution.  I didn’t have any mishaps during application, but it was hard to decide if I needed a little or a lot.  The gloss is nice and not too sticky.  The tint also has a nice rosy scent but you can also taste it, which I have a hard time with.

Since I’ve determined that this lovely product doesn’t look good on me (yes, I tried to take a good photo with it on), I turned sweet Ava into my model for you to see the stain on some live lips.  Too bad she’s 5 and shouldn’t wear makeup because it looks beautiful on her!  And maybe on you too, you should try it for yourself.

I wore Benetint for about two weeks before making my judgement and I’m sad to say that it is headed back to Sephora.  Hopefully if you’ve been wanting a lip stain too it will be perfect for you.  Hmmm, now what to exchange it for!!!

For the New Moms and Insomniacs Out There… A Few Beauty Tips

Ah, motherhood.  Oh, Insomnia.  I know them both very well.  I’d say I haven’t really slept for over 5 years now, although I average closer to 5 or 6 hours these nights instead of 3 or 4.  If you are a survivor like me, here are some of my beauty tips from several years of trying to not look like I feel.

My favorite beauty products since having children…  Benefit’s eye bright pencil, Fekkai dry shampoo, and Tarte cheek stain in Flower Child.  These 3 things have kept me looking awake, somewhat healthy, and relatively clean.  We moms know it’s TRULY difficult to get a good shower, and if you can’t sleep, well, you just CAN’T!  Nothing doing!!!

Here’s what you do…  Wake up (or get up, if you’ve already been awake for hours with your baby or with your endless thoughts), wash that face – it deserves it!  Line the white (lower inside lid) of your eyes with your new Benefit eye bright pencil and dab it on any sad, shadowy areas… Next, dab your new Tarte stain on your sweet cheeks and blend with your finger tips.  Finally, shake some of your new dry shampoo into your hands, rub to distribute evenly, then rub into your scalp where it appears oily.  For me, that is always above my ears at the sides of my head.  I have also used an old blush brush to brush the powder into my hair.  I am also a fan of spray-in dry shampoos like Umberto’s.  You’ll have to pay a visit to your local Sephora (oh darn!) to pick up the Benefit pencil and Tarte stain, but dry shampoo is sold at any drugstore for about $8.00.

Hopefully you can invest in these 3 lifesavers, I know they will save your day!!!
