The word “thank you” doesn’t seem to be enough. I put on my new clothes on Sunday and had not held my head that high or felt as beautiful as I did in…well, I can’t remember how long. You have given me a new outlook. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
-Jamie K, Lakewood CO
I have worked with many stylists in my days, but none that compare to Jill Carter. After working with her, I’m convinced that no photographer can reach their best without her on their team. On a personal level, she equipped me with ideas and encouragement on what would make me feel beautiful, confident and comfortable in my own skin. She’s a woman of excellence, and goes above and beyond what is necessary because she cares about what she does and those she’s doing it for. The short time I had with Jill has completely revolutionized my understanding of myself, for the better. I’m in awe of her passion, creativity and the selfless and sincere way she engages and serves people. My husband and I and our children absolutely adore her and can’t express enough how thankful we are to have worked with her and know her.

After two babies, seventeen months apart, my body had changed and I was short on clothes. I also was not quite sure about what looked the best for my new body. Every time I went anywhere, finding clothes in my closet was a nightmare that left me stressed out. Shopping for clothes was also difficult because I have two, not very patient little ones, and I had trouble finding the right fits for myself.

Finally, I contacted Jill to help me. She sat down with me and assessed my tastes and needs. She also went through my closet with me to see what I had that would work and what I needed to get rid of. I gave her a budget and she did all of my shopping for me. She did great! I loved all of the clothes that she got. The hardest part was choosing which ones to send back. I wanted to keep them all! She also went through and gave me suggestions on how to wear different outfits and styles. Now, I have a wardrobe of clothes that I can feel good about and it’s fun to shop in my closet for what to wear each day. It’s allowed me to feel less stress about dressing and helped me to feel great about what I’m wearing!

Oh my goodness Jill….I owe you the BIGGEST thank you!!  You seriously went above and beyond and surpassed expectations!  You said you were crazy about details….and that you are (which I LOVE!)  You really created such a special ‘scene’ for Adam and I.  You are super talented and I would totally recommend you in heart beat!  I also know you were very generous with your time, so a sincere thank you again.

Recently I decided that I wanted to do a trash the dress session but felt overwhelmed with the thought of what I wanted it to look like and most importantly what in the world I was going to look like.  I spent probably a year toiling over this idea but always not following through.  I have been married 8 years and when I pulled out the dress and put it on, it shockingly fit but didn’t “fit” what I felt like I had evolved into over the last eight years.  So again I became nervous about what I would look/feel like in this dress.  Over the next week I looked through every magazine available to put into words what I wanted to look like.  All I came up with was “this dress felt like it was made for a very young girl and I felt more like a woman than I ever had before so please make me look like a woman in this princess dress”.  I can say that I felt pretty on my wedding day with my poofy dress and long veil but nothing would amount to the overwhelming pride and joy I felt when I saw myself in the mirror the day of the shoot.

I had shown Jill a couple of photos of things I liked, but honestly I could not describe what I saw in my head.  But I knew I could trust her, especially when she came over locked and loaded and ready to transform me.  As I sat while she curled and poofed and worked her magic on me I thought “what if I don’t feel pretty enough to do this”.  Not that I doubted her abilities but more my own confidence to show and be “the woman” I knew was inside of me.  Then I stood in front of the mirror looking at myself and almost passed out!!! How did she do this! In that moment I felt she saw in me what I could never express and she transformed me into the strong and beautiful woman I had always wanted to be.  No longer was it about the dress and its overpowering poofiness but it was about me standing here after 8 years of marriage and two kids and being able to feel the beauty and be the “Woman” I knew I was meant to be.  That is what she does, she transforms you into the real you!  She doesn’t ask you to be something you’re not but rather pulls out the things we don’t see or can only see in our quiet moments.  You might say to me “geez this is a little deep for a trash the dress shoot”  but for me it was the beginning of something new for me and a letting go of “the girl” and becoming “the woman” I am meant to be.  I can honestly say without Jill’s work this would never have happened.  I would still be sitting and wishing I had the confidence to step out and be “that woman”.”

Jill has an intuitive and keen understanding of the needs of a woman and recognizes that every woman desires to know and feel that she is beautiful. Jill has an important gift of listening, so she takes quality time to understand and learn about the personal needs of her clients. As a result, she is able to unleash the beauty and style that we all naturally possess. By the time she’s finished, women are transformed, many for a lifetime. “Deciding to use Jill as my stylist during a professional photo session was the best decision I could have made! Not only did she style my hair and clothing perfectly, she also made sure to take care of all the little details that I would have missed during the session.  She made me feel confident that I was always at my best, and the photos came out beautifully.  Every time I look at these pictures I will be thankful for not only the professional styling that she did, but also what an enjoyable and memorable experience she made the whole session.”

“My closet consult with Jill was completely amazing. I had grown tired of a lot of my clothes and really thought I had to choose between blowing the budget on all new clothes for work or to look and feel frumpy. We went through each item that I thought was done or I just didn’t know how to wear and gave my closet a whole new lease on life. Jill paired items that I didn’t know would look so perfect together, gave me some tips on how to piece together great outfits and how to update casual items into something fresh. She also helped me to identify what staple items would really make my wardrobe pop and helped me to part ways with items that had overstayed their welcome. It was so fun spending a few hours with Jill and “shopping” my closet. I woke up the next day and felt like I had bought new clothes. The closet consult is perfect for anyone transitioning their wardrobe, be it from student to office chic or pre-baby clothing to hot mama wear. Jill will get you feeling fresh and fabulous!”

“When I turned 30 and looked in the mirror, I saw a contradiction. I had grown up on the inside in so many ways, but still looked like a college girl on the outside. I could tell this was coming to the surface when watching “What Not To Wear” became a religious experience for me. I had a strong desire for my outside to match how I felt on the inside, but even after making Stacey and Clinton my gurus, I had no idea where to start. My closet was full of safe clothing, with few exceptions. How did I always end up spending my very small clothing budget on things that looked the same? Since when was it stylish to have long sleeved t-shirts in every color? Ugh! Nearly ready to throw my sad little wardrobe out the bedroom window, I enlisted the help of my dear friend, Jill Carter. I had always appreciated her sense of style and loved how with simple elements, she could look so incredibly beautiful. What I treasured the most, though was that the woman I knew her to be on the inside was completely congruent with how she looked on the outside. Her inner beauty was enhanced by her outer beauty. So, on December 12th last year we met at Flatirons Mall, and over lattes made our game plan for the day. I had taken pictures for her of what I liked in my closet before our shopping trip, so she had an idea of what I had and what I still needed. We talked budget and then we were off! By the time we were done I not only felt surprised (by what I could “pull off”), but completely thrilled by my new wardrobe choices. It was liberating and inspiring in the weeks after to slip into outfits that made me feel like a sassy adult woman. Everyone noticed the change, especially my husband, which was so incredible to feel. My day with Jill was one of the greatest experiences of my adult life! It was so empowering and confidence inspiring to see myself in clothes I never would have tried before and then hear Jill say, “Nat, you look hot!” I’m definitely taking her with me the next time I go!”

“Am I good enough?  Am I pretty?  Am I worth something?  These questions profoundly affect how we approach life, love, friendships…just about everything.  Jill has a passion and gift for helping women realize their beauty, worth and potential.  A styling session with Jill isn’t just about being pretty on the outside.  It’s about giving you the vision and courage to step out of your comfort zone (or rut!) and into who you really are.  She has the ability to see what you don’t…and then, she helps you see it for yourself.  Once that happens, everything changes…the light goes on and you start to feel like you can do anything…”

-Shannan Nemmer, Owner at Shannan Nemmer Hair, Portland OR

“I had met Jill a couple of times through a mutual friend. She is encouraging and sweet to everyone she meets, but I was also intimidated by how pretty she is. I  asked her to curl my hair. I admired hers from our first meet and got the courage to ask her to “teach me” and do mine for my baby shower. It was amazing to go into her little bathroom and get the treatment and learn some tips to try to re-create it in my house. A couple months later, I was in the very ugly post pregnancy stage after my second baby and wanted to do a newborn photo shoot with my new baby girl. I wanted a matching family shot but of course, NOTHING in my closet was right. I posted a facebook plea to borrow a white top from someone for our shoot. Jill came to my rescue. She handed me about 10 tops from her own closet! I found one that worked perfectly! What would I do without this wonder stylist? I am proud to have her as a friend and hope it only grows from here!”
